Many car enthusiasts are reworking their car in order to change the design and improve ergonomics. One of these methods is the widening of the wheel arches, which you can do yourself.
Instructions
Step 1
To widen the wheel arches at the front of the car, saw off the fenders and use a hammer to gently shape the arches of the diameter you need. Cover the formed protrusion in the form of a visor with a metal edging, which must be rubberized.
Step 2
Rear arches require a more responsible approach. With extreme care, remove the parts of the wings that you do not need, being careful not to accidentally saw through the arches from the inside. If, nevertheless, this unpleasant moment occurred, then you will have to pick up the welding machine.
Step 3
After removing the fenders, remove the gap that has formed between the fender and the inner arch niche. To do this, carefully trim the arch, making it in the form of petals, bending which, you get a visor. As with the front, cover everything with piping. Remember that all seams that appeared during the work must be carefully treated with an anti-corrosion agent. It will not be superfluous to protect the rear arches from water by filling them with foam.
Step 4
Then lift the front suspension. To do this, install stiffer springs. The best option here would be to borrow them from the Chevrolet Niva. Take expensive shock absorbers, you cannot save on them. Reinforce the body brackets first. Then lengthen the distance sleeve for the upper shock absorber mounting to the distance that you made the thickening.
Step 5
If the front wheels become skewed, install a 25 mm spacer between the ball joint and the upper arm. If necessary, increase the ground clearance by installing a spacer under the front spring plate and lower ball joints. Adjust traction and replace brake hoses. After all the work done, do not forget to adjust the steering.
