Water that gets into the gas tank of a car can bring a lot of trouble to the car owner, especially if your car is equipped with a diesel or injection engine. The engine itself, of course, will not be damaged by water, but the fuel injection system and the high pressure pump will fail.

Instructions

Step 1

In winter, the problem of water getting into the gas tank becomes more serious. The point is that in a calm state, water does not mix with gasoline and accumulates at the bottom of the fuel tank. And if gasoline is used up to the very last drop, sooner or later water will get into the gas line. And this is fraught with blocking the path of gasoline due to its freezing. In this case, in order to eradicate the problem, you will have to put the car in a warm box. On the other hand, after thawing, the water will go to the engine, which is also an unpleasant fact.

Step 2

One way or another, it will not be possible to completely get rid of the water in the fuel tank - at least 50 grams, it will still remain. After all, no one is insured against the situation when the warning light comes on, notifying that the fuel is about to run out, and before refueling, as they say, “saw and saw”. What happens next - see above. Therefore, it is simply necessary to get rid of water, especially when winter is approaching.

Step 3

As you know, water practically does not mix with gasoline, but it mixes well with pure alcohol, be it ethyl, methyl or isopropyl. It is extremely important here that the alcohol is clean, undiluted. This is easily verified: if you set fire to pure alcohol, it will burn with an almost invisible flame, which is a sign of its purity. What you need to do then, you probably guessed it - pour alcohol into the gas tank.

Step 4

So, pour 200-500 ml of alcohol into the gas tank. It will mix with water, resulting in a mixture that is similar in density to gasoline. And, firstly, it will not freeze like water, and secondly, it will pass without any problems for the engine through the fuel system of the car and, like ordinary fuel, will burn. Moreover, its amount, in comparison with the amount of gasoline, is negligible.

Step 5

So that the problem of water accumulated in the gas tank no longer bothers you, pour half a liter of alcohol into it every autumn for prevention.
