The hydraulic drive of the hand brake is an absolutely necessary modification of the brake system when installing disc rear brakes on a car. The hydraulic handbrake coordinates the actuation of both rear brakes and increases the active safety of the car.

Necessary

  • - metal brake pipes - 5;
  • - copper washers - 10;
  • - twisting;
  • - plug;
  • - brake hose;
  • - equipment for the standard handbrake handle;
  • - tee;
  • - plastic clamps - 50;
  • - brake fluid - 4 l;
  • - brake force regulator;
  • - clutch master cylinder;

Instructions

Step 1

Partially disassemble the interior to make room for the brake hoses and keep yourself comfortable. Study the braking system of your car according to the instructions for your car.

Step 2

Convert the diagonal braking system to the axle one. In other words, the braking system must apply the front brakes with one circuit, the rear with the other. To do this, plug the rear wheel drive circuits on the master brake cylinder. Then disengage the front brake circuits and combine them into one. And use the remaining rear wheel contours to modify the braking system.

Step 3

Route the rear brake line inside the passenger compartment. To do this, pass the hoses into the passenger compartment through the technical hole for the speedometer cable. When doing this, route the hoses so that they do not hit anything inside the motorcycle compartment. Do not forget to connect the hoses themselves to the brake master cylinder. Using a twist, extend the line by one metal tube. Subsequently, replace this twist with a regulator.

Step 4

Equip the handbrake handle with the purchased equipment and install it in its original place. Connect the brake fluid supply pipe to the inlet of the handbrake hydraulic cylinder, and the brake hose to the rear of the car to the outlet.

Step 5

Drill three technological holes inside the body above the rear axle if the machine does not have suitable ones. The holes must be equal in diameter to the brake hoses. Insert the brake hose stretched to the rear of the machine into the corresponding hole and slide the rubber ring over it. Pre-cut this ring on one side and install so that it protects the hose from rubbing against the body.

Step 6

Under the body of the car, screw a tee to the hose through copper washers. Pass the remaining brake hoses of the rear circuit through the remaining holes and also protect with rings and connect to the T-piece. Secure the tee itself with plastic clamps and seal all connections.

Step 7

After making sure that the hydraulic lines are tight, fill the system with brake fluid. Start pumping from the back circuit, and finish with the front.
