The vehicle's braking system must always be in good condition. Not only your life depends on it, but also the life of other people. The parking brake can be the last life buoy in an emergency stop. Therefore, it is necessary to periodically check its action and subject it to adjustment.

It is necessary

  • - two keys for 13;
  • - pliers;
  • - ticks.

Instructions

Step 1

Check the correct adjustment of the parking brake of the VAZ 2106. To do this, install it on a loading ramp, overpass, etc., the height of which is 1.25 m, and the length of the entrance is 5 m. This ratio is equal to a slope of 25 percent. The parking brake is obliged to keep the car on such a surface for 5-8 clicks (teeth). If there is no such platform, then for a simplified check of the "hand" brake adjustment, park the car on a level surface. Place the gear lever in neutral and pull the parking brake lever up to the stop. Leave the vehicle and try to move it. In the event that you managed to do this, urgently adjust the "hand" brake drive.

Step 2

Position the vehicle for parking brake adjustment on a lift or inspection ditch. Prepare for this two keys for 13, pliers and pliers "cobra". Loosen the adjusting nut while holding the lock nut with a wrench. If you have a VAZ 2106 car produced before 1995, then before adjusting the "hand" brake, raise its lever by 1-2 teeth. It is unnecessary to do this on cars produced since 1995, due to technical features.

Step 3

Take a pliers and, while holding the tip of the front cable, tighten or unscrew the adjusting nut. By doing this, make the hand brake lever travel about 4 clicks. Tighten the lock nut with a 13 wrench. Raise and lower the lever several times until it stops. In the event that the stroke is less than four teeth, then this can cause partial blocking of the wheels.

Step 4

Roll the rear wheels by hand. Their course must be free, without delay. If this is not the case, then either the “hand” brake drive or the rear wheel brake mechanism should be repaired.
