Step 1

Pump the top of the front wheel of the car laterally with your hands. Even a subtle backlash is a reason to check the condition of the wheel bearing and the reliability of the front suspension strut with the steering knuckle.

Step 2

Rock the car body. If, by inertia, it continues to oscillate after stopping swinging, the shock absorber is faulty. To find out which one, apply an effort when rocking first to one side of the body, then to the other.

Step 3

Check the levers with a test tool. Replace them if cracks or deformations are found in the suspension beam reinforcements and connector. Please note that straightening and welding are unacceptable in this case. Examine the threaded holes in the flanges. If you find damage, straighten the threads or replace the suspension arms.

Step 4

Check the rubber-to-metal hinges. Replace them if you notice rubber bulging, tears, or wear on the outer face.

Step 5

Examine the spring for cracks and deformation of the coils. Replace it if you find any. Check spring settlement. To do this, squeeze it three times until the turns touch, and then apply a load of 259 kgf. The length of the spring must be at least 233 mm.

Step 6

When the length of the spring with yellow marking is reduced to 240 mm, it must be replaced with a green one. Compress the spring against the centerline of the toe spring. Make sure that the seating surfaces are aligned with the surfaces of the body support cups and the shock absorber.

Step 7

Inspect the support rubber pads, if worn, replace them with new ones. Examine the wheel hubs, bearings and threaded bolts that hold the wheel rims. Check the seating of the deflector ring. Replace damaged bearings with new ones.
