High-quality gasoline ensures the stable operation of the car. Unfortunately, the quality of fuel at some gas stations is poor. Sometimes, in pursuit of cheap gasoline, you can ruin the engine of a car and a penny saving on fuel can result in several tens of thousands of rubles spent on car repairs. There are several ways to help identify low-quality gasoline on your own.
Instructions
Step 1
One of the main indicators of fuel quality is price. There is an average cost of gasoline at different filling stations. If suddenly you arrive at an unknown gas station, where the cost of gasoline is at an unrealistically low level, then you can be sure that you are going to fill the gas tank with "burned" fuel.
Step 2
You can also determine the quality of gasoline yourself by color. It should have a pale yellowish tint. True, some gas station chains specially tint gasoline in order to avoid fakes. Dyed gasoline is generally of high quality. For example, gasoline A-80 is yellow, AI-92 is red-orange, AI-98 is blue.
Step 3
Experienced drivers, who know their car like five fingers, can accurately determine fuel quality by engine performance and gas mileage.
Step 4
There is also one proven method that has been used for a long time. To do this, you need to take a blank sheet of paper and drip a little gasoline on it. Then you need to blow on the paper until all the gasoline has evaporated. If the fuel is of high quality, then there should be no traces on the paper - it should turn white. If the shade of the paper has changed, then this means the presence of various impurities in the gasoline that do not meet the established standards.
Step 5
Among other things, you can also purchase inexpensive indicators that are sold at auto dealerships. It is enough just to run the indicator strip over the refueling nozzle, where there is always a little gasoline, and check the reaction that has occurred.
Step 6
You can also check the quality of the gasoline with potassium permanganate or a chemical pencil. In this way, you can check the quality of gasoline yourself, at home. You need to take a transparent vessel and pour gasoline there. The color of the fuel should be pale yellow. If, when adding a small amount of manganese or a piece of a chemical pencil, the liquid changes color dramatically (turns pink or purple), this means that there is water in the gasoline, which should not be in high-quality gasoline at all.
Step 7
The quality of gasoline can be checked directly at the filling station itself: just drop a small amount of fuel on the skin. If gasoline began to immediately spread, turning into a greasy spot, then such fuel was diluted with various impurities and additives. You can safely leave such a gas station.
