Having bought his first car, a person may not know a lot about it. Therefore, sometimes new drivers are stunned even by such working situations as refueling a car. And it's good if the gas station worker himself fills your iron horse, otherwise you will have to look for where on your "iron horse" is the gas tank hatch and how to open it.
Instructions
Step 1
The most common option for opening the hatch is found in foreign cars. Just find a lever in the car, on which you will see an image of a fuel pump. On left-hand drive cars, the lever is located slightly under the driver's seat by the left door. In the case of cars with a right-hand drive, everything is exactly the opposite. That is, the lever for opening the fuel tank hatch is located at the right door.
Step 2
Pull the lever up, and you will hear a characteristic click - the fuel filler flap is open. In order to close the hatch after refueling the car, simply push it down until it closes and locks in place. You should also hear a click when closing the hatch.
Step 3
Sometimes in foreign cars, the gas tank cap opens by pressing a button, which is most often located on the dashboard or the driver's door. This button also has an image of a fuel dispenser. Just press the button to open the gas tank, and after refueling the car, close the hatch all the way with your hand.
Step 4
There is also a manual way to open the filling door. It is common on all domestic cars and parts of foreign-made cars. To open the gas tank, pull the lid towards you by grasping the recess in it. It is extremely rare to find hatches that look more like not an ordinary cover, but a twisting neck. This is most often seen on sports cars.
