Necessary

  • - jack;
  • - a set of keys and screwdrivers;
  • - penetrating lubricant;
  • - wheel chocks;
  • - pullers for steering rods and springs.

Instructions

Step 1

Replace the struts of a front-wheel drive VAZ car in cases where fluid has leaked from the shock absorber, or the unit has lost its quality. When driving on an uneven surface, vibration damping does not occur, the car does not take a stable position for a long time after hitting a bump. The best option is to replace both front struts. If there are shock absorbers with varying degrees of wear, the comfort will not increase. Prepare the vehicle for repair by placing stops under the rear wheels to prevent the vehicle from rolling away.

Step 2

Jack up the side to be repaired. First, it is better to slightly loosen the bolts on the wheels, and only then hang the car. Having raised the side of the machine, you need to dismantle the wheel by completely unscrewing the four mounting bolts. After that, using pliers, remove the pin from the pin of the rod end, having previously straightened it. Install a puller on the rod and slowly tighten the bolt on it, occasionally applying sharp blows with a hammer to it. The finger should come out of the strut knuckle.

Step 3

Unscrew the bolts securing the rack to the wheel hub with a 19 key. It is most convenient to use a long-handled end handle as a lever. If the nuts do not give way, treat them with a penetrating lubricant and let stand for a while. The upper bolt has a 17 wrench head. After unscrewing the nuts, you need to knock out the bolts using a screwdriver or a pin of a smaller diameter. This completes the work on the hub side. Now it remains to unscrew the three nuts securing the support bearing to the glass on the body under the shock absorber strut.

Step 4

Remove the stand assembly. Now it needs to be partially disassembled in order to put a spring and metal washers on a new one. Lock the suspension strut so that it is comfortable to work with. Lock the puller on the spring and squeeze it. Now you can unscrew the nut on the shock absorber rod. Remove the bearing, washers and spring. Install the bumper and dust cover on the new stand. Then a spring, which can be fixed with electrical tape.

Step 5

Install the metal washers removed from the old strut and a new journal bearing over the spring. This is much more convenient when the stem is fully extended. It is necessary to attach a nut to the thread, and then install the rack in the reverse order to removal. At the end of the replacement procedure, it is imperative to pull all threaded connections with the recommended force. It is also imperative to carry out wheel alignment.
