If, when driving on uneven parts of the road, a characteristic knock appears at the front of the car, this may indicate a worn condition of the stabilizer struts. In this case, there is a high probability that the bushings have worn out at the same time. Therefore, the stabilizer struts must be replaced together with the bushings.

Necessary

  • - keys set;
  • - screwdriver;
  • - jack;
  • - wheel chocks;
  • - safety supports;
  • - aerosol preparation WD-40;
  • - grease.

Instructions

Step 1

Park the car on a level place, use a viewing hole if possible. Secure the vehicle with the parking brake. To replace the front stabilizers, raise the front of the machine with a jack and place it on the safety supports, install wheel chocks under the rear wheels.

Step 2

Unscrew the front wheel nuts and remove the wheels. Spray WD-40 spray on the nuts securing the stabilizer bar and brackets. On each side of the vehicle, remove one anti-roll bar nut and two nuts for the anti-roll bar brackets. Remove the stabilizer bar with struts and brackets.

Step 3

To replace the stabilizer struts, unscrew the nuts securing them to the levers and knock the struts off the stabilizer bar with a wooden or polymer hammer. Check the stabilizer bar for deformation, straighten it if it is slightly distorted. Replace worn stabilizer pads if necessary. Check uprights and bushings. Replace them if they are deformed, worn or lost elasticity.

Step 4

Install the stabilizer bar in its original place, tighten the nuts for fastening the brackets until the gap in the cuts of the pillows is eliminated. Install the wheels, lower the jack and remove the wheel chocks. Install all stabilizer nuts while the vehicle suspension is loaded. To prevent the nuts securing the stabilizer struts from loosening on their own, lubricate the threads on them with thick grease.
