The engine of a modern car is a technically complex unit. Therefore, various unforeseen breakdowns can occur with it. To always be confident in your abilities when solving them, you should know the causes of possible malfunctions and methods for their elimination. One of the most common problems is the inability to start the engine, i.e. malfunction of the ignition system.

Necessary

  • - control lamp;
  • - protractor;
  • - screwdriver;
  • - key for 13;
  • - candle key.

Instructions

Step 1

Check the contact gap between the contacts on the ignition contact distributor. Adjust it, to do this, connect the test lamp to "mass" and to the "cam" of low voltage. Turn on the ignition and crank the crankshaft until the contacts are closed. In this case, the lamp should go out.

Step 2

Take a thin wire and fix the position of the slider relative to the distributor body. Continue to rotate the crankshaft until the control lamp lights up, fix the position of the slider. UZSK (the angle of interruption of contacts) must be within the marks measured by the protractor: for the classic VAZ - 55 ° ± 3 °, for the AZLK 2141 - 50 ° ± 2.5 °. Adjust the clearance to this angle.

Step 3

Check the centrifugal ignition timing regulator. Its work can be disrupted as a result of the weakening of the springs, which are designed to tighten 2 of its weights. Adjust their tension.

Step 4

Evaluate the performance of the vacuum regulator. To do this, with the engine idling, connect the tube from the carburetor to the distributor. If at the same time the crankshaft speed increases, then the vacuum regulator is working properly. Otherwise, repair or replace it.

Step 5

Unscrew the candles. Examine them. If significant carbon deposits have formed on them. This means increase the gap between the electrodes. If it is normal, replace the plugs.

Step 6

Install the ignition correctly. To do this, put the cylinder piston at TDC, while aligning the risk of the crankshaft pulley with the mark on the camshaft drive cover. Set the octane corrector to zero. Loosen the fastening of the distributor body. Connect the test lamp clip to the low voltage screw on the breaker and the other to ground. Switch on the ignition. Hold the slider with your hand, thereby eliminating its play. Secure the body at the moment the lamp lights up. Make sure the slider points towards the wires of the 1st cylinder.
