The most frequent damage to the windshield in the form of scratches and scuffs is brought by windshield wipers, fine particles of sand and gravel. This damage can be removed by polishing the auto glass.
Instructions
Step 1
Prepare the necessary material for glass polishing. Buy a special polishing powder, a polishing wheel, and a polishing machine, which can be used as a drill with a mandrel to attach the wheel. Remember that grinders (grinders) cannot be used in this process, they have too high speed, which will lead to damage to the glass. The optimal rotation for this procedure is 1200-1700 rpm.
Step 2
Examine the glass carefully and find the most severe damage. Remember that it is very difficult to remove rather deep scratches and small chips from stones, there is a great danger of a "wave" or "lens" appearing, which is unacceptable. Circle with a marker those defects that can be corrected.
Step 3
Cover the car with a film to prevent small particles from entering the body. Do not forget to cut a hole in the film for the windshield and seal the edges with masking tape. Thoroughly wash the glass with a special product, and then wipe dry with clean napkins.
Step 4
Dilute the powder with water until a creamy mass appears. Apply the resulting composition to a circle and rub over the glass, not turning on the revolutions. The area should not be large, about 30 * 30 cm. Turn on the drill and rub the mixture within this zone with gentle progressive movements.
Step 5
Hold the clipper at a slight angle, which should be about five degrees. After you finish work on the selected area, go to the next one, doing everything in the same way. Make sure that there are no missed areas. At the end of the work, wipe the glass with a cloth and check the glass for haze. If it is absent, then remove the film from the car and thoroughly wash the glass. Remember that the whole process will take you about 3-4 hours.
