During the operation of the vehicle, the aluminum cooling radiator may lose its tightness. If a leakage of coolant was found from it, then it should be removed and repaired. When this fails, the radiator should be replaced. This operation is simple and available to perform independently.

Necessary

  • - socket head 10;
  • - curly screwdriver;
  • - pliers with long thin jaws.

Instructions

Step 1

Drain the engine coolant. Remove the electric fan with shroud. Disconnect the horn. Loosen the clamp securing the supply hose to the radiator. Remove it from the radiator hose. Disconnect the discharge hose in the same way.

Step 2

Take a 10 key and unscrew the two nuts securing the aluminum radiator to the body. Remove the holder for the steam hose. It is located in a hole in the upper cross member of the engine compartment. Loosen the band clamp of the steam hose after tilting the radiator towards the engine. Disconnect the hose from the radiator fitting.

Step 3

Lift the radiator up. Remove the two bottom mount pads from it when they remain on the dowel pins, or pull them out of the holes in the crossmember when they remain on the body. Inspect them and replace if they are torn or loose.

Step 4

Remove the rubber-metal bushings from the radiator brackets. Inspect and replace defective ones. Rinse the outside of the radiator with a jet of water and dry. Inspect the part, if cracks are found on the plastic tanks, replace the radiator. Check its tightness by plugging the pipes and placing them in a container of water. Supply air to it under a pressure of 0.1 MPa. Air bubbles must not escape from the radiator within 30 seconds. In the event that the radiator does not fit into the container, check it from all sides.

Step 5

Place the bottom mount pads on the radiator pins. Insert the top mount bushings into the brackets. Install the aluminum radiator in reverse order. Lubricate its connections with sealant and connect the supply and return hose, securing them with clamps. It is better to use worm gears, since tape is difficult to achieve re-sealing. Install the electric fan with shroud and fill with coolant.
