VAZ 2105 belongs to the category of inexpensive cars. Therefore, it is not always advisable to hire specialists to replace the clutch. If you follow the simple rules, then all the work can be done independently.
The service life of a car's clutch is determined not only by the number of kilometers traveled - first of all, the duration of this important component of any car is determined by the operating conditions, in particular the degree of load on the transmission. The more often the driver starts abruptly from the traffic light, the faster the clutch disc will wear out and not only it. Previously, you will have to deal with repairs and in the case when the car is actively used in the city (for example, as a taxi). When adjusting the free wheeling on the VAZ 2105 does not help, it means that it's time to start repairing the clutch closely.
Removing clutch parts
All work is best done on the inspection pit or using an alternative option - a flyover, a lift. If you had to do such work in the field, then you need to ensure safety - after lifting the machine on a jack, put a support under the body (for example, in the form of a hemp).
Before starting work, remove the "minus" terminal from the battery. Then unscrew the nuts securing the air filter cover and remove it: this will make it easier to remove the starter. When it is removed, you can go to the salon, where you will have to free the gear lever from the covers and, pressing down on the rod with a thin screwdriver, remove the locking sleeve, pull out the lever.
The following operations must be done under the machine. First, remove the propeller shaft from the rear axle gearbox by unscrewing the 4 mounting bolts. Then disconnect the bracket for attaching the exhaust pipe to the transmission. Then, with a key on "13", unscrew the nuts securing the intermediate shaft ("outboard" bearing) and remove the cardan. Now you can move closer to the box; unscrew the bolts securing the clutch cylinder to the box and take it to the side without disassembling it. Along the way, disconnect the speedometer cable (it is nearby) and prepare a transverse support (thick board, for example) under the checkpoint.
It remains to unscrew the 4 bolts securing the box to the engine and pull out the gearbox, having previously removed the reverse wires. Access to the clutch is open: unscrew the bolts securing the clutch guard and disconnect the pressure plate by unscrewing the 6 bolts. That's it, you can pull out the clutch disc and basket.
Clutch condition assessment, assembly
After completing disassembly, assess the condition of the removed parts. It is best to replace both the clutch disc and basket assembly. It should be added that on the rear-wheel drive VAZ models the clutch "lives" much longer than on the front-wheel drive ones. Therefore, by replacing the parts in the kit, you will get rid of clutch problems for a long time.
The assembly is carried out upside-down. Important points: it is necessary to have on hand the input shaft from the old gearbox or a special mandrel for centering the disc. It, in turn, is installed with a protruding part to the gearbox.
