Replacing the clutch on a VAZ-2108 car is performed when the drive or driven disc is destroyed. To carry out the work, you will need an inspection pit or overpass, since you need to remove the gearbox.
Necessary
- - keys set;
- - jack;
- - support posts;
- - pullers for ball joints and steering rods;
- - scrap;
- - a hammer;
- - screwdrivers;
- - old CV joint;
- - a device for centering the disc;
- - a new clutch kit;
- - a crossbar with a cable.
Instructions
Step 1
Place the vehicle on an inspection pit or overpass. Disconnect the battery first. Remove the front wheels. At home, they need to be removed one by one, first lifting the side on a jack, and then substituting a rack under the body. Unscrew the ball joints and tie rods from the suspension struts. Now that the rack is free, with a sharp movement you need to pull it out of the outer CV joint. Then you need to remove the inner CV joints. First remove one, and replace it with a blank. Do not remove both CV joints at the same time.
Step 2
Disconnect the ground wire from the engine to the box. Remove the starter by unscrewing the power cable retaining nut and the three nuts that secure it to the clutch block. Using a 19 key, unscrew the four bolts that secure the box to the engine. For now, there is no need to fear that the gearbox will fall, as it rests on the input shaft and on the pillow. Now disconnect the speedometer drive and wires going to the reversing light switch. And don't forget the traction to the gear lever.
Step 3
Install a crossbar on top of the hood and tie the gearbox to it. Unscrew the pillow on which the box is installed. Now you can start removing the box from the engine. It can be quite difficult to do this, since the input shaft sometimes "sticks" to the clutch disc. Try to pull the box evenly so that it doesn't go awry. You can use the help of a partner who will tilt the engine block. Later, when you put the box, you can also tilt the engine block.
Step 4
Remove gearbox and set aside. On the input shaft you will see a release bearing that needs to be replaced even if it is working. It may soon become unusable, an extraneous hum will appear when the engine is running. Now to the grip itself. Prepare the guide shaft in advance to center the clutch disc. Remove the six bolts that secure the basket to the flywheel. Now remove the basket and clutch disc.
Step 5
Install a new basket and disc, install six new basket-to-flywheel bolts. Now install the guiding device. Once you have centered, you can start tightening the bolts. Try to tighten evenly so that the basket does not go awry. Only after the last bolt has been tightened can the guide shaft be removed. Next, the gearbox is installed in the reverse order of dismantling.
