Some car enthusiasts dream of making a trailer for a car with their own hands. However, you need to keep in mind that it is allowed to transport goods on it on public roads only if your homemade product is registered with the traffic police. Otherwise, you risk getting a fine. Registration of a homemade trailer is carried out at the Interdistrict Registration and Examination Department (MREO) of the traffic police at the place of residence.

It is necessary

Checks and certificates for all components and assemblies purchased for the trailer, a description of the trailer, 4 photographs of the trailer (from all sides) in size 10X15

Instructions

Step 1

Contact the Interdistrict Registration and Examination Department (MREO) of the traffic police at your place of residence on the issue of registering a homemade trailer. Find out the exact list of documents required for this. In the same place, you should be given a referral for the examination of a homemade trailer to an accredited testing laboratory. It is carried out, in particular, at the Central Research Automotive and Automotive Institute (NAMI).

Step 2

Apply for a homemade trailer appraisal to an accredited testing laboratory. Attach to the application a direction from the traffic police, a description and photographs of the trailer, receipts, certificates for components and parts. Other documents may be required. Find out the exact list of them before applying. Pay the cost of the examination.

Step 3

The laboratory checks the compliance of the vehicle design with the established technical requirements. If the examination was successful, then the laboratory draws up an examination certificate and issues you a certificate for the trailer.

Step 4

Submit an application for registration of a certified home-made trailer with the MREO traffic police, attach copies of the examination certificate and certificate issued by the laboratory. The trailer will also need to be shown to the traffic police. Pay the registration fee.

Step 5

After registration, you receive a certificate, the state number of your trailer and you can safely transport goods in your car in any direction.
