Replacing the clutch by yourself seems to be a difficult task, which can only be solved in a car service. However, if you have some experience in auto repair and a good set of tools, it is quite possible to do on your own.
Replacing the clutch is best done on a lift, but if there is none, you can get by with a flyover or a viewing pit. If the latter is used, then for the convenience of work, the front of the machine must be hung on stands. Remove the front wheels, disconnect the "minus" battery and the car can be considered prepared.
Removing the clutch VAZ 21099
Arm yourself with a key on "17", unscrew the clutch cable from the bracket located at the checkpoint and unscrew the speedometer cable by hand. Disconnect earth from the transmission. Next, unscrew the nuts securing the braces to the levers and take the braces to the sides. Now you need to squeeze the finger out of the pivot arm: to do this, pull out the cotter pin, unscrew the nut. Unscrew a couple of bolts, disconnect the pivot and the steering knuckle.
Take a pry bar and squeeze out the tip of the CV joint (internal), plug the resulting hole in the gearbox so that oil does not spill out. Now you can go to the clutch housing, for which you need to remove the protection attached to three bolts. Install stands under the engine, the box so that they can be hung out (use a winch, if there is one) and loosen the nuts that secure the power unit. Next, unscrew the 3 bolts, 1 nut, with which the box is attached, and pull it out horizontally - this must be done carefully so as not to damage the clutch petals, so it is better to invite an assistant.
Immediately check the operation of the release bearing: if a grinding sound is heard when turning or the part dangles in its holder, then the spare part must be replaced. Now you need a mandrel that simulates the input shaft of the gearbox (you can use the old shaft). Insert it so that the clutch disc does not fall out when removing the basket. Lock the drive disc with a powerful flat screwdriver so that it does not rotate, and remove the bolts that secure it.
Clutch inspection and installation
After pulling out the clutch assembly, inspect the driven disc: there should be no scoring, scratches, or traces of oil on the surface. The disc must be replaced if the rivets are deepened by less than 0.2 mm, which indicates that the lining is worn. Broken or loose damper springs are also not allowed. Next, inspect the pressure plate, which should not be cracked, scratched, scored or worn out. In a good disc, the petals are well fixed and located in the same plane.
The assembly is carried out upside-down. When installing discs, use a mandrel so that they are centered. Fasten the clutch to the flywheel with bolts alternately, increasing the effort. Then pull out the mandrel and lubricate the splines of the box shaft with oil, which it is better to insert with an assistant.
