A punctured wheel is a fairly common problem that can appear while driving. You don't have to seek specialized help to replace it, you can do it yourself if you put in a little effort.
Place for renovation
To replace a wheel of a car, you need to find the most level surface in a safe place. This surface must be firm to prevent spontaneous movement, such as asphalt. Never drive onto the ground or drive into hills. If you have to change a wheel on a busy road, take all precautions by installing a warning sign required by the regulations.
Wheel preparation
Whichever surface you choose to change wheels, you must additionally fix them, preventing the movement of the car. Place stones on the front and back of the wheel located diagonally from the one being repaired, for example, if you are changing the front left wheel, fix the rear right one. Also, if your car has an automatic transmission, set it to Park, if manual, to first gear. Using a wrench, loosen the nuts holding the wheel being replaced. You do not need to unscrew them to the end at this stage.
Raise the car
Place the jack next to the wheel you intend to replace, making sure it rests against a metal surface. The bottom of many vehicles is lined with a plastic plate, so be careful not to hit it when jacking up. Read the vehicle manual if you are unsure of the correct procedure. Modern cars may also have special jacking slots, which are located just behind the wheels. Use them if you have them. Raise the vehicle high enough to remove the wheel.
Wheel replacement
Unscrew all nuts from the wheel and remove it. The wheel can get stuck due to rust. If this happens, tap it with a rubber mallet or spare wheel. Place the removed wheel under the vehicle next to the jack. This will prevent injury if the vehicle moves. Install the spare wheel, then install and hand tighten the nuts. The nuts should not be tightened one by one, but one opposite the other, in the direction of the sprocket. This will balance the wheel as much as possible.
Lower the car
Lower the vehicle slightly so that the wheel is slightly resting on the ground. Using a wrench, tighten all nuts until they stop. Then lower the vehicle completely and remove the jack.
