How is the driving commission going?

Upon receipt of a driver's medical certificate, you must go through a medical commission, which implies visits to such specialists as an ophthalmologist, neurologist, narcologist, psychiatrist, surgeon.

According to the changes that came into force on March 31, 2014, the conclusions of such doctors as a psychiatrist and a narcologist must be obtained from specialized medical organizations. At the same time, they must belong to the state health care system and be located at the place of residence of the driver or a person planning to go to a driving school or at the place of his temporary stay, if necessary, obtain a certificate as soon as possible.

The algorithm for obtaining help is as follows. First, a person undergoes a medical examination at a polyclinic and receives a certificate of the established sample. With her, he goes to the narcological and neuropsychiatric dispensary, where he visits the necessary doctors. After obtaining their permission to drive and affixing all seals, you must return to the center where the certificate was issued. There, the head physician will complete the paperwork and fully certify the driver's medical certificate.

Certificate validity period

The certificate is considered valid for 2 years from the date of its receipt. Moreover, persons suffering from various diseases, and therefore having limitations for health reasons, must undergo a medical driver's commission every year. Despite this, the driver's license itself is issued for 10 years, and it is not required to change it more often.

Prior to the changes that came into effect at the end of March 2014, the medical certificate was considered valid for 3 years from the date of receipt. And persons who have reached retirement age or have certain diseases were forced to change the certificate once every two years.

A driver's medical certificate may be required in several cases. Firstly, when passing training in a driving school just before passing exams for categories A, B, C, D and E, a certificate is required. Secondly, every 10 years it is necessary to replace the old driver's license with a new one. At the same time, a fresh medical certificate is required in the traffic police. Thirdly, in case of loss of a driver's license or the need to make changes to the last name, first name or patronymic of the driver, also in order to receive a new document from the traffic police, you will need to provide a certificate of the established form.
