Step 1
The length of the overhaul period of the car depends on the degree of tension of the generator drive belt for any car. Incredibly, there are also owners who are sure that the tighter the specified accessory is pulled, the longer it will last.
Step 2
Such a misconception threatens the failure of the bearings of the generator, water pump and tension roller. The fault will be caused by the creation of an excessive load on the nodes of the listed equipment.
Step 3
On the cars of the Volga Automobile Plant, depending on the modifications, a V-shaped or flat alternator drive belt is installed. Their tension parameters differ in the amount of deflection and the applied force from above at the time of testing.
Step 4
The maximum deflection of a V-belt when pressing on it with a force of 3-4 kg is no more than two centimeters, and for a flat belt it is no more than one and a half centimeters with a load of 10 kg. Any excess of the specified standards requires tightening the drive element.
Step 5
Adjusting the tension in most cars, and VAZ cars were no exception, comes down to moving the position of the generator on the bracket with which it is fixed to the engine.
Step 6
For this purpose, the bolts of the lower fastening are loosened and on the tensioning bar and the generator is moved with the help of a structural device on the tensioning bar or a pry bar.
Step 7
Moving it away from the engine, the belt is tensioned, after which the position of the generator is fixed and the set parameter is checked, and in cases where it complies with the standard, the final tightening of all fasteners of the specified equipment is performed. If a non-compliance with the technical requirements is found, then it is necessary to repeat the above steps.
