The amount of oil on our planet is decreasing day by day. Not surprisingly, at the same time, gasoline prices are growing almost exponentially. But if you follow a few simple rules while driving, the amount of fuel consumed by the car can be reduced by almost 20%.

Instructions

Step 1

Check your vehicle for faults. Its engine must be clean, assess the condition of the filters and candles, make sure that the engine oil level is within the normal range. Check the tire pressure. The flat tires lead to the increased consumption of gasoline by the car.

Step 2

Open the trunk of your car, make sure you don't carry anything unnecessary with you. Remember that every 100 kg of ballast increases fuel consumption by an entire liter per 100 km.

Step 3

Modern cars are simply overflowing with devices that provide comfort to the driver and passengers. But everything has a price. The heated seat increases the fuel consumption by 0.25 l / 100 km, and the air conditioner can consume up to 2 liters of fuel in hot weather. Of course, this does not mean that you need to turn off all appliances in the cabin and freeze or, conversely, suffocate from the heat, but there is no need to force the air conditioner to thresh continuously, turn it on as needed and your wallet will tell you at the gas station: "Thank you."

Step 4

But most of all gasoline is consumed due to the improper driving style of some drivers. A starting car consumes a lot of fuel. This is understandable, it takes incredible energy to move such a huge pile of metal. A sharp jerk from a place can and looks impressive, but this requires 3-4 times more gasoline than for a normal gradual start.

Step 5

The lower the gear, the higher the engine rpm, which means more fuel is consumed. Try to shift and ride in high gears in a timely manner. At a speed of 50 km / h in fourth gear, the car consumes 20% less fuel than in third. The savings are becoming quite substantial.

Step 6

Do not leave the engine running while the machine is stationary. If you know for sure that you have to stand for a long time at a traffic light or a railway crossing, turn off the car. At idle speed, it can consume up to 2 liters per hour, and there is no benefit from this.

Step 7

Avoid unnecessary braking and acceleration. Once on the track, choose a high-speed lane and try to stick to it whenever possible. Experts have calculated that the optimal speed when driving on the highway is 110 km / h. If you want to drive faster, be prepared for higher gas mileage.
