The surfaces of car alloy wheels become damaged over time and become unsightly. To remedy this situation, it is enough to simply repaint the discs.
Necessary
- - special paint for painting discs;
- - putty for metal;
- - primer-enamel for metal;
- - paint remover;
- - sandpaper;
- - metal brush.
Instructions
Step 1
Remove the discs from the wheels of the car. If during the removal process it was found that they "stuck" and the wheel does not come off, unscrew the bolts by about three millimeters, start the car, and, having engaged the first gear, brake at low speed, after that the disc will "snap off". Or, with loose bolts on the disc, begin to slowly (under control) lower the jack until the wheel is free.
Step 2
Remove dirt from discs and inspect them for damage. Remember that repairing alloy wheels is not possible if they have cracks at the base of the spokes or at the seat holes.
Step 3
Clean the rims from corrosion. Remove the old paint with a metal brush, sandpaper. It is not necessary to do this completely to the metal; clean only all deep chips. If possible, sandblast the discs. It will be very easy to remove old paint with it.
Step 4
Treat discs with old paint remover. Rinse them thoroughly after handling and wait until they are completely dry.
Step 5
Putty the damage to the disc surface with a metal filler. Wait until it dries completely. Apply primer-enamel for non-ferrous metal to the discs.
Step 6
Apply special paint for discs of the desired color (such paints are produced in aerosol cans). Wait until the first layer is dry and apply the second, and if necessary, the third layer. Cover the discs with varnish after the paint is completely dry.
