Everyone should be able to screw the wheels on their car, because a punctured wheel can be found at the most inopportune moment. Correct wheel alignment will avoid unpleasant steering play when driving on the road.
Instructions
Step 1
The easiest option is to get to the tire service, where all the necessary operations will be done for you for a certain amount. Remember that at these service stations, they often simply tighten the bolts around the wheel, without performing any additional action. This attitude often becomes the reason that after a few hundred kilometers a "runout" of the wheel appears at high speed. This is due to the fact that the wheel is not centered on the holes. Therefore, it is better to carry out this operation yourself.
Step 2
Put the car in first gear and apply the handbrake. Then jack up the machine and install a new wheel. Do not tighten the bolts completely, but simply screw them in so that they barely come into contact with the disc. Inflate the wheel to the required pressure, because the clearance of the deflated wheel is the cause of imbalance when the bolts are incorrectly tightened.
Step 3
Begin to wiggle the wheel slightly around the pivot to make sure there is a lot of play. Continue wiggling while using these fingers to tighten the first pair of bolts until they are in full contact with the disc. This procedure will center the holes on the bolt head.
Step 4
After that, tighten the second pair of bolts while continuing to wiggle the wheel. Repeat the operation several times, tightening the bolts crosswise, which is imperative. When the strength of the hands is not enough to continue twisting, then pick up a "balloon" with a pipe fitted. Remember that the pipe is here for convenience, not to tighten the bolts with all your might.
Step 5
Remove the jack and lower the machine to the ground. Finally tighten the bolts crosswise and remove the tool. After driving about 100-150 kilometers, stop and check the tightening of the bolts. Tighten the bolts again if necessary.
