Spray painting is the most common way to change the color of your moped or scooter yourself. The cost of the costs equates to the cost of the spray cans themselves, and the absence of the need to prepare paint for the spray bottle greatly simplifies the matter.

It is necessary

  • - 7-10 cans with enamel of the desired color with a volume of 500 ml;
  • - 4-5 cans of varnish;
  • - sandpaper of varying degrees of abrasiveness.

Instructions

Step 1

Prepare your moped for painting. To do this, remove all plastic linings that you plan to paint. If you plan to change the color of other parts of the moped (discs, muffler, air filter), remove them too. Thoroughly clean all parts on both sides from dirt and dust.

Step 2

Sand all removed parts. For facings with large scratches, first grind with coarse-grained sandpaper, then with a finer one, and finally with a zero-grain sandpaper. If there are no scratches, treat immediately with the finest grain. Warning: on unpolished plastic before painting, paint quickly cracks and falls off. After sanding, thoroughly wash all parts from pieces of sandpaper and dust.

Step 3

For painting, use enamel of the middle price range. Buy enamel with a margin: if it is not enough, you will not need to look for the same one. A cheaper varnish can be used. Choose a well-ventilated area or a deserted outdoor area for the work site.

Step 4

Prepare a soft, damp cloth to wipe away paint stains. Read the instructions on the enamel can. Shake the aerosol can vigorously for 3-4 minutes before starting. If you have insufficient experience in painting, practice painting on some foreign object. Moisten the ground or soil in advance in the place of staining to nail down the dust.

Step 5

Carry out coloring from a distance of 30-40 cm from the treated surface. Apply at least 2 coats of paint with an interval of 10-20 minutes between them. If smudges appear, immediately remove them with a prepared cloth. Paint large parts by moving the can along the surface at a uniform speed. Apply paint on small parts in a circular motion with a swirling spiral.

Step 6

Carry out varnishing in the same way after complete drying of the paint for 50-60 minutes. When using a good varnish, do not spray the product too close to the surface to avoid smudges and cracks. Conversely, apply cheap varnish at close range. Apply the varnish in several layers.

Step 7

Use the finest sandpaper to remove any blemishes from the paintwork. Dry all parts thoroughly within 24 hours and install on the moped.
