Frosty winters in the middle lane are frequent, and the problem of gasoline-drenched spark plugs is familiar to many motorists. Often, when trying to start the car in cold weather, the result is not a trip, but futile attempts to fix the problem. There are different methods for quickly repairing a car during the cold season.
Instructions
Step 1
If the car does not start in cold weather, but the battery is charged, there is a high probability that the candles have been flooded. This means that there is a certain amount of gasoline in the cylinders where the combustible mixture explodes, which prevents the spark from igniting and making the engine work.
Step 2
Turn off the ignition and open the hood of the car to make sure that the spark plugs are really flooded and fix the problem. Find the spark plugs under the hood. They can be identified by the flexible wires coming from the ignition control unit, which is rectangular in shape. Most modern cars use 4 cylinders, and therefore 4 candles.
Step 3
Disconnect the wires from the candles, opening access to their slotted part, in diameter suitable for the spark plug wrench. The candle wrench has a special design and a rubber insert for the convenience of unscrewing the candles. Unscrew the candles with this tool.
Step 4
Examine the unscrewed candles carefully. If there are drops of gasoline on them, they are most likely flooded. In order to get rid of gasoline on candles, they should be wiped dry with a rag and heated with a gas stove or burner. If neither a stove nor a burner is at hand, a lighter or matches will do. While the candles are burning, the remaining gasoline will evaporate from the cylinders. The whole procedure will take 10-15 minutes.
Step 5
Screw the heated candles back into the cylinders, fasten the wires to the candles in the same order in which they were originally located. This is important, since the order in which the spark will appear in the cylinders depends on the location of the wires. If connected incorrectly, the engine will most likely not start.
Step 6
With all the parts in place, try starting the car. If everything is done correctly, after 5-8 seconds of rotation of the starter the engine should start working.
