For a motorist, winter is the most difficult season of the year. To avoid all kinds of unpleasant situations during the winter months, you need to carefully prepare for the onset of winter. Brakes, suspension arms, spark plugs, wires, and wheels work in extreme conditions in winter and wear out much faster than in the warm season.

Many experts claim that even the best and most reliable car wears out five times more intensively in a harsh winter than in summer. Therefore, it is better not to risk it and carefully prepare your car for the winter.

  1. Brake pads, even not very worn out, must be replaced before winter - as practice shows, the main reason for skidding is the difference in the braking torques of the wheels. The brake fluid should also be changed - this procedure should be done at least once every two years. It is better to buy the highest quality brake fluid - you should not save on it.
  2. To prepare your car for winter in advance, you should also take care of purchasing winter tires. Driving summer tires on icy winter roads is not just reckless, but downright dangerous. If you travel by car only in the city, it will be enough to put on ordinary winter tires. But if you go out of town by car in winter, get studded tires.
  3. Another "problem area" of any car in the winter is the battery. In severe frost, problems with starting the engine can often arise. Therefore, in advance, check the level of distilled water in the battery, and if it is not enough, add the required amount. It is also advisable to recharge the battery itself and check the density of the electrolyte. If the density indicator has dropped below the mark of 1.27, then it is time to think about replacing the battery. In a harsh winter, it is better to use high-quality, branded batteries. If you decide to save money and have not changed the battery - stock up, at least with wires "for lighting", since in the cold a worn-out battery may simply refuse to work.
  4. In anticipation of frost, it is also necessary to change the oil and the oil filter - oils with a low viscosity index are well suited for winter.
  5. You should also pay attention to the body - in winter it suffers greatly from temperature changes and salt, which is sprinkled on the roads. Therefore, both old and new cars need anti-corrosion preparation of the body: you should at least cover the surface of the body with mastic or wax.

The coolant must be replaced with antifreeze resistant to low temperatures in preparation for winter. And it's better to put new spark plugs. As you can see, getting your car ready for winter is not so difficult - you just need to take into account all the aspects that may be important in the cold winter time. And do not forget that it is better to prepare a sled in the summer - the process of preparing for the winter season must be carried out at the optimal time for this, without waiting for the onset of cold weather.
