Car antennas are designed to amplify the radio signal. If you live in an area with poor signal strength, it is best to place an external antenna on top of your vehicle. And if you need good reception in the city, opt for an in-car active antenna.
It is necessary
- Drill;
- - side cutters;
- - electrical tape.
Instructions
Step 1
Car antennas are: mortise in the roof, fender or bumper; telescopic; magnetic; electrical; active with built-in amplifier. Depending on the selected antenna model, it is installed and connected.
Step 2
For a recessed roof antenna, remove or fold back the headliner. Disassemble the side stand.
Step 3
Drill a hole for the antenna on the outside of the roof. Cover the hole with a waterproof sealant and secure the antenna by passing the wire down the passenger compartment.
Step 4
Run the wire along the roof under the sheathing, then along the rack. Start it behind the dashboard to the radio.
Step 5
Remove the radio tape recorder. Connect the antenna plug to the dedicated socket on the back of the radio.
Step 6
If the antenna is active, connect the power. Two wires and a plug come out from the active antenna. Connect the black wire to ground. Connect the other wire to the one that comes out of the antenna - blue or blue with a white stripe. In the instructions for the radio tape recorder, it is designated as a wire for an active antenna.
Step 7
After connecting all the wires, install the radio. Check the radio is working. If you have connected everything correctly, secure the radio.
Step 8
Before connecting the in-car antenna, wash the glass well. Warm up the car as adhesive tape adheres worse to cold glass.
Step 9
Wipe the surface dry and degrease it. For this, alcohol wipes are usually included with the antenna.
Step 10
Disassemble the right pillar.
Step 11
Stick the antenna “tablet” itself on top of the glass on the right. To her go "antennae", which are placed and pasted to the left and down.
Step 12
All in-cabin antennas are active, so there are three wires from them. Run them up the rack, securing them to the main wiring harness with electrical tape or clamps.
Step 13
Attach the black wire to ground (body). Insert the other with a plug into the radio socket, the third one to the power output.
