Cars of the Czech brand Skoda are famous for their strength and durability. An example is the Skoda Octavia model. This is a very comfortable and convenient vehicle for movement not only in the city, but also outside it. However, even with such a beautiful car, some parts need to be changed over time. Candles are such details.

Necessary

A set of new spark plugs, a spark plug wrench, a clean rag, a can of compressed air, an instruction manual

Instructions

Step 1

Park the vehicle on a level surface. Apply the parking brake to lock the machine in place. Stop the engine. Remove the key from the ignition. Open the hood and remove the negative terminal of the battery. This will avoid short circuits. Remove the caps of the high-voltage wires. They are usually made of tight rubber and fit snugly in the socket. Therefore, gently swing the wire in different directions and with a smooth movement pull up the cap together with the wire. Set the wire aside carefully. Make sure that no dirt or moisture gets into it. Place a stand on the cylinder head and lower the wire onto it. Remove all wires.

Step 2

Take the special key for removing candles. The tip must be hexagonal. Slip it over the end of the candle. Gently start unscrewing the candle. Make very gentle movements so as not to disturb the thread of the channel. If the candle does not give in or has gone tight, then make a few turns in the direction of twisting and continue to turn it out. This may be due to a clogged nest. Remove all candles. Examine them carefully. The working surface of the candle should be light brown. There should be no oil traces on the threads. Examine the electrodes. If they are burnt, there is a problem with the engine.

Step 3

Buy new candles. It is best to use the type of spark plug indicated in the instruction manual. To purchase, contact the Skoda service center. Take a can of compressed air. Blow out the grooves into which the candles are inserted. You can clean the threads with a specially designed brush. Wipe down new candles with a dry cloth. Insert them into the grooves and carefully twist by hand one or two turns. Put on the hex wrench and screw in the candles until they stop. Blow out the hoods from the inside. Slip tightly over the candle heads. Put on the battery terminal. Start the car and check if it works.
