In winter, Kia car owners often have problems with starting a cold engine. The reason for this may be broken glow plugs. To eliminate this trouble, you will need to replace the candles. Do not rush to contact the service center, because you can handle this yourself.
It is necessary
- - new candles;
- - wrench;
- - head 12;
- - metal pin;
- - torque wrench.
Instructions
Step 1
First you need to carry out the preparatory work. Loosen the belt of the ancillary units, for this take a key, use it to slightly unscrew the tensioner bolt and remove the belt from the generator. Then unscrew all the mounting bolts on the generator body and put them in a certain place so that they do not get lost. Remove the vacuum pump tube and engine lift bracket. Disconnect the bus bar connectors from the glow plugs and remove the bar. Now the candles are available, and you can proceed directly to replacing them.
Step 2
Take the head 12 and unscrew the candles, it is desirable that at this moment the engine was warm, this will greatly facilitate the procedure. Take extra care when removing candles, as the tips break easily and can create additional work.
Step 3
After removing the candles, take a long, thin pin and clean out the holes where the candles were located. Clean the threads of the plug seats and try to screw them into place by hand. If the candles do not screw in, additional cleaning will be required. Use WD-40 spray to keep it high quality.
Step 4
Screw in the spark plugs in sequence and tighten them using a torque wrench with 15 Nm torque. Upon completion of the procedure, reassemble all removed parts in reverse order.
