Necessary

  • - new spark plugs;
  • - a special candle wrench.

Instructions

Step 1

When you start the spark plug replacement process, take care of the future of your engine. Remove dirt and dust from candles and the area around them. For cleaning use any compressor (for example, a tire compressor) or a simple brush. These simple steps will help prevent debris from entering the engine, thereby extending its life. After making sure that the spark plugs are clean, proceed directly to the process of replacing them, having previously removed the protective casing from them (if any).

Step 2

First of all, when replacing spark plugs, disconnect high voltage wires from them (be extremely careful and follow safety precautions). To be sure, label the wires so that you know where they are and which spark plug belongs to. After disconnecting the high-voltage wires, proceed with the process of removing the candles themselves. To do this, use a special candle wrench with which to unscrew the candles by rotating the tool counterclockwise.

Step 3

The next step is to screw in a new spark plug. To begin with, screw the candle into the candle well by hand, then use a wrench, but do not tighten the candle too tight (no more than a quarter of a turn). Before screwing in, if desired, lubricate the spark plug thread to prevent corrosion. Also, a greased candle in the future, at the end of its life, is much easier to remove from the candle well. After that, attach the marked wire to the new plug and proceed with replacing the next one.

Step 4

Remember, do not remove all the spark plugs at once, do it one at a time. This way you can avoid the consequences of incorrect installation: problems with ignition and engine performance. Also, do not forget to clean the candle well itself when screwing in a new candle. These simple guidelines will extend the life of your engine and make it much easier to operate.
