To provide the car with maximum safety from theft, it is not enough to limit yourself only to an electronic security system. Mechanical locks are a good addition to the alarm system. They are installed on the hood lock, gear lever, steering shaft. The steering lock is one of the most effective mechanical anti-theft systems.

Necessary

  • - a set of hexagons;
  • - set of screwdrivers.

Instructions

Step 1

The principle of the anti-theft lock is that it fixes the steering shaft in one position and prevents it from turning. And it is difficult to turn off and remove the anti-theft system, since it is in an inaccessible place and you cannot immediately notice it.

Step 2

The steering shaft locking lock consists of two parts - a clutch and a stopper. The stopper is a metal pin with a lock cylinder and a latch. The clutch consists of two parts, which are bolted together. The lock does not include a holder for the stopper. Purchase the holder separately, it is necessary in order for the lock to be fixed after removal. Install the holder itself in any place convenient for you on self-tapping screws or plastic caps.

Step 3

Attach the sleeve to the bottom of the steering shaft under the dash. In some cases (depending on the car brand), remove or cut the lower part of the decorative cover that covers the steering shaft.

Step 4

Unscrew the bolts from the coupling and separate it into two parts. Grasp the steering shaft with these parts and tighten the bolts.

Step 5

Unscrew the steering wheel to the right until it stops, remove the ignition key from the lock and turn the steering wheel until it clicks. This will fix the standard anti-theft lock.

Step 6

Position the sleeve so that the stopper is easy to install and remove. When turning the steering shaft, the stopper must rest against the car body.

Step 7

After that, fix the coupling with the previously baited bolts and insert the stopper into it. The tightening of the bolts is allowed with a reinforcement of not more than 4 kg, sequentially diagonally. Insert the stopper without a key until it is fully fixed in the coupling. To remove the stopper, insert the key into it, twist and pull.

Step 8

After three to six months of use of the lock, tighten the bolts on the coupling. Vibration from the car can loosen them.
