The ultrasonic parking sensor is very convenient for those who have not yet learned how to park masterfully. With its help you will be able to learn about obstacles, high curbs and other dangers that lie in wait for your car while driving in reverse.
It is necessary
ultrasonic parking sensor with a set of fasteners; - tape measure or measuring tape; - marker; - masking tape; - awl; - drill; - electrical tape
Instructions
Step 1
Wash the car or at least the bumper and prepare the space. It is best to install the sensors in a comfortable garage so that the height from the ground can be accurately calculated.
Step 2
Remove the negative terminal from the battery and disassemble the interior of the car. Think carefully about where it will be more convenient to install the parking sensors - on the rear window of the car or on the control panel. There are also parking sensors that display obstacle information directly on the windshield. In addition, it is necessary to immediately determine how the wiring from the sensors will be laid, where the main unit of the parking system will be located.
Step 3
Cover the bumper with masking tape to avoid damaging the finish. Select reference points - for example, the edge of the bumper or symmetrical parts. Or you can mark with a marker - it is washed off the surface without damaging the paintwork.
Step 4
Mark the bumper of the vehicle. Please note that some models have auto marking provided by the manufacturer. To carry out manual marking, you need to carefully read the instructions. The sensors should be located at the same height (usually about 60 cm from the ground), and strictly horizontally. The accuracy of the data sent by the sensor, as well as the presence of "white" zones, in which obstacles are not visible, will depend on the correctness of the marking.
Step 5
If the parktronic model provides for through installation, put a dot in the marked place with an awl. At this point, drill holes with a drill and install the parking sensors.
Step 6
Route the wiring harness through the rubber plug and into the trunk. Braid the wires together, but leave small loops so that one of the sensors can be easily replaced if needed. Install the system unit in the corner of the trunk and check that the system works.
Step 7
If the system is operational, secure the system calculation block and display at the desired location, and route and insulate the wiring. Wireless parking sensors are convenient to install, since there is no need to pull wires through the passenger compartment.
