The battery is the main nutrient for any car. It stores the energy accumulated by the generator. It is necessary in order to be able to provide current to the ignition system, alarm, hazard lights. It is the current reserve in the battery that allows you to listen to music in a muffled car. Sooner or later the time comes when this battery requires a planned replacement.
Necessary
Your vehicle's manual, cotton gloves, a set of wrenches
Instructions
Step 1
Switch off the car ignition and remove the keys from the ignition switch. Apply the parking brake. Open the hood and secure it with the latch. The battery is located in the lower right corner. On new cars, it is covered with plastic protection, which protects against the ingress of dust and dirt, and also gives a more aesthetic appearance to the engine compartment. Some car dealerships seal all bonnet covers before selling. Therefore, you should call the car dealership, where it is under warranty to make your own replacement.
Step 2
Read the instruction manual. Find the location of all the plastic protection mounts in it. There are usually four of them. The location may vary depending on the model year of the vehicle. On the latest models, the clips are located on the edges of the guard. Gently squeeze the safety attachment latches. A characteristic click should sound, after which the latch will open. By the protection, you will see the attachment of the battery to the platform on which it stands. This mount consists of two iron strips, two long bolts and nuts.
Step 3
Take a 12 wrench and unscrew the battery retaining nut. Begin to gently and smoothly move the key counterclockwise. Do not make sudden movements, otherwise you risk breaking the thread of the bolt or nut. If the nut is difficult to move, then make a few turns clockwise, and then continue to unscrew it again. It is enough to remove one nut. You will see washers under each nut. Don't lose them in any way! They prevent the nuts from loosening. Now open the negative terminal clip. Under the plastic cover, you will see the nut standing vertically. Unroll it. Remove the terminal. Repeat the procedure with the positive terminal. The battery can now be removed.
