Step 1
Place your vehicle on a level surface. It is best to remove the battery in a garage. This will prevent moisture and snow from entering the engine compartment if it snows or rains outside. Apply the parking brake. Switch off the vehicle and remove the keys from the ignition. Open the hood, remove the stop and insert it into the groove located on the inside of the hood. On the latest Fabia models, the manufacturing plant began to install gas struts. If you have them, then you just need to open the hood as much as possible, and then lower it a little. The uprights will automatically lock.
Step 2
If you have a battery-powered alarm installed, you need to turn it off. The standard alarm is disabled by disconnecting the terminal coming from the unit. In the event that you have a satellite alarm installed, you do not need to disconnect anything, since this type of alarm always has a separate battery. The car remote control will alert you as soon as you disconnect the main battery. Perhaps the dispatcher will call you, to whom you need to confirm the fact of self-disconnection of the battery, giving the secret code.
Step 3
Take a look under the hood. On the right, you will see a plastic shroud that covers the battery. It must be removed. This cover is secured with plastic clips. There are five of them all along the entire perimeter. Find their approximate location. Then begin to gently bend the cover over one of the edges. Do everything very smoothly so as not to inadvertently break the fragile plastic. Never try to pry off the cover with any sharp object! Remember to wear cotton gloves. Thus, disconnect all five latches and remove the cover. Unfold the protective plates covering the battery terminals. Use a wrench to loosen the bolts. After that, carefully remove the negative terminal first, and then the positive terminal. Lay the wires carefully so that they do not touch each other. Unscrew the nut that holds the battery mount. Remove the fastener and take the battery out of the recess.
