Your BMW car won't start. One possible cause of a problem could be a defective battery. This often happens if you do not start the car for a long time. To troubleshoot, simply remove and recharge the battery.
It is necessary
- - socket wrench;
- - latex gloves;
- - protective glasses.
Instructions
Step 1
Carry out preparatory work. Do not start removing the battery without protection - wear rubber gloves and safety glasses. The battery is located at the rear of the car - under the luggage compartment. To remove the battery, you must completely empty the trunk. Next, remove the rug. Now you need to carefully remove the trunk lid. There is a spare wheel under the cover. Pull it out carefully.
Step 2
Take out the cover. For this, there is a small lever above the casing itself. Turn this lever, take out the cover. There will be a jack with a cover inside.
Step 3
Unscrew the terminals. To do this, take a socket wrench and use it to randomly remove the terminals.
Step 4
Check that the key is removed from the ignition switch. Now start opening the battery holders. This does not require any tools - they can be opened by hand. Do not rush to pull out the battery right away! Two wires are connected to it - one in polarity is plus, the other is minus. Disconnect the minus first, then the plus. If you do the opposite, a short circuit will occur and the battery will completely burn out. Determining the polarity is not difficult - there will be a "+" or "-" mark near the wire.
Step 5
Begin removing the battery. All BMW batteries have a special handle for this, which is embedded in the battery housing. Grab this handle and begin to slowly pull it out towards you. Do not overdo it with effort - the handle is plastic, it can break off.
