A rechargeable battery with a nominal voltage of 12 V and a capacity of 60 Ah is installed on the Ford Focus car. The battery case and cover are polypropylene. The lid has water filling and ventilation openings and can be equipped with an electrolyte density indicator.
It is necessary
10mm socket wrench and extension
Instructions
Step 1
The battery is heavy. Before removing the battery, make sure that your physical capacity allows you to lift it. Turn off the ignition and all electrical equipment. Always start disconnecting the wires with the ground wire. On cars with engines of 1, 8 or 2, 0 liters or turbo diesels, remove the air filter cover before removing the battery.
Step 2
The battery on Ford Focus cars is closed with a plastic cover. Lift it up and take it off. Unscrew and remove the bolt securing the negative wire to the body ground. Loosen the nut on the tip of this wire. Lift the clamping plate of the battery wires up, for which first unscrew the nut securing it.
Step 3
Remove the negative and positive wires from the corresponding battery terminals. The positive wire is fastened with a separate nut, and to remove it, loosen or unscrew it. Open the wire holders and lay the ground wire to the side. Avoid accidentally shorting the positive and negative wires with the tool used. Avoid accidentally touching the positive wire to the car body.
Step 4
Press the lock on the front battery cover and remove this cover. For the final removal of the battery, unscrew the retainer retaining nut. Hold the battery firmly when removing the battery from the engine compartment.
Step 5
Install in the reverse order. Sand the terminals and wire ends with fine-grained emery paper before installing. Observe polarity when connecting wires. After connecting them, lubricate the ends of the wires and the terminals of the battery with Litol-24 or another conductive grease containing copper. Always start wire connections positive.
Step 6
When replacing the battery, install a new battery only of the same type, with full correspondence in amperage and capacity. The brand of the new battery must be recommended by Ford. If you have any difficulty, contact an authorized service station for advice. Never dispose of an old battery with general household waste. Dispose of it in a designated industrial waste disposal site.
