The Ford Focus is durable and reliable. But even with such a car, sometimes the dashboard becomes completely unusable and requires replacement or repair. This procedure can be done independently, since it is not particularly difficult.

Necessary

  • - vehicle operation manual;
  • - set of tools;
  • - cotton gloves.

Instructions

Step 1

Drive the car into the garage. Apply the parking brake and turn off the vehicle. Open the hood. Remove the plastic cover that covers the battery. Unscrew the nuts and remove the terminals from the battery. Make sure that the terminals do not touch each other. Removing the terminals is necessary in order to de-energize the on-board power system.

Step 2

Carefully dismantle the cladding elements - the oval rings on the air duct openings and the trim on the panel.

Step 3

Disassemble the central tunnel. To do this, first remove the gear lever cover. Then take out the ashtray, which is located between the driver's and passenger's seats. Find the screws that hold the tunnel. Unscrew them carefully and remove the tunnel.

Step 4

Pry the cover for the radio and climate control on the central part of the torpedo. Under it, you will see the screws that hold the radio mounting block. Unscrew them. Pull out the radio and disconnect the wires from the back.

Step 5

Pull the steering wheel towards you and lower it down as far as possible. Remove the plastic trim that is under the dashboard. Behind it you will find two screws that hold the dashboard. Unscrew them.

Step 6

Insert the screwdriver exactly in the center under the visor. Feel the latch with a screwdriver and pull up until it comes out of the mount. Then pull the panel towards you. Disconnect the rear block and remove the dashboard completely.

Step 7

Remove the pillar trim. Each is attached with two self-tapping screws, which must be carefully unscrewed. It is also necessary to dismantle the passenger airbag, if it is in your configuration. The pillow is attached with two self-tapping screws. Be very careful when removing it. Disconnect the air duct hoses on the sides and under the center section.

Step 8

Remove the steering column. To do this, remove the protective plastic. Locate the screws holding the column base and remove them. Gently lower the steering wheel onto the driver's seat. Also remove the bolts that secure the torpedo to the rigid panel at the windshield. Now the torpedo rests only on plastic clips. Open them and smoothly pull the torpedo towards you.

Step 9

Disconnect all terminal blocks by marking them in advance.
