Removing the rear bumper is necessary when it has been badly damaged in a traffic accident or to replace the rear fog lamps. This procedure does not take much time and does not require special skills.
Instructions
Step 1
Prepare the necessary tools for work: flat and Phillips screwdrivers, a set of wrenches and socket heads. After that, remove the mud flaps and rear wheel arch liners on both sides of the car. To do this, unscrew the lower and upper bolts that secure the mudguards to the front fender. Then take a screwdriver in your hand and use it to squeeze the lock and remove the holder. Then detach the mudguards and set them aside.
Step 2
Disconnect the electrical connector of the wires that connects to the block located on the bracket on the right side. These wires are necessary for the operation of the reversing light and fog lights. To carry out this procedure, squeeze the pad retainers and separate it. Use a screwdriver to detach the holder from the car body.
Step 3
Disconnect the electrical connector of the wires that connects to the block located on the bracket on the right side. These wires are necessary for the operation of the reversing light and fog lights. To carry out this procedure, squeeze the pad retainers and separate it. Use a screwdriver to detach the holder from the car body.
Step 4
Gently pull the bumper towards you on both sides. Make sure that the holders that are at the ends are detached from the body. Then finally remove the bumper. If you disconnected it for later replacement, be sure to remove the reversing light, fog lights and wires from it.
Step 5
To do this, turn the lamp holders of these lamps counterclockwise and pull them out. The harness with wires is removed by disconnecting eight holders, which can be easily snapped off with a screwdriver. Install all these devices on the new bumper. After that, be sure to check how these lighting fixtures work in the new place. At the end of the work, attach the mud flaps to their places.
