Instructions

Step 1

Stop the engine in the car. All work carried out in the car must be safe for the master. Take special tools, for example, for the Mercedes Benz W168 1997-2004 radio tape recorder, this is a C-shaped tool, it is made of dense wire, and gently pry the bottom of the panel. Make sure that this model does not have a mount for a radio tape recorder in the form of metal skids that come with the radio tape recorder. If a slide is present, first bend the clamps to which the slide is attached.

Step 2

Remove the center console bezel. Proceed with care and attention to avoid breakage of the plastic. Typically, standard car radios require special removal tools. The holes for such devices are located on the front panel of the radio or on the sides and can be closed with plugs. It all depends on the type of radio.

Step 3

Disconnect the comfort unit connector and remove the frame. Use a screwdriver to unscrew the fasteners located on the block, usually four screws. Remove the climate control unit and leave it hanging from the wires.

Step 4

Unscrew the screws securing the DIN adapter frame of the radio and remove the device together with the frame. If you dismantle a standard radio tape recorder installed by Mercedes or its authorized dealer, please note that for each type of device there is a special set of tools, i.e. individual keys that are included in the spare parts kit with the new car. If such tools are not available, contact your Mercedes representative. Do not try to make such tools yourself, improper use can damage the system.

Step 5

Go to the Mercedes service center, where professional masters will quickly and efficiently carry out the procedure for dismantling or replacing the car radio. This will save you time, and the work done will guarantee a decent result.
