Extraneous knocks and rattling of the body when driving on an uneven surface, squeaks and high levels of vibration. Perhaps these are the main symptoms of a violation of the integrity of the silent blocks in the suspension arms. Replacing them takes a little time, but after that you will feel comfortable during the trip.

Necessary

  • - vice;
  • - a set of new silent blocks VAZ 2109;
  • - soap solution (detergent or liquid soap);
  • - gas burner or other source of fire;
  • - a piece of pipe of such a diameter that the silent block can freely enter into it;
  • - keys set;
  • - chisel and hammer;
  • - penetrating lubricant.

Instructions

Step 1

Prepare your vehicle for repairs. It is more convenient to carry it out on an overpass or pit, but if there are none, you can hang the front of the car. To do this, you need to alternately raise each side and substitute the supports, before this, loosen the wheel bolts. The first step is to get rid of all that is superfluous. Remove the wheels, engine protection, and then treat absolutely all threaded connections with penetrating grease. It takes some time for it to take effect. Wait 30-40 minutes, then just continue the repair.

Step 2

Remove the nuts securing the arm to the stabilizer. After that, the bolts will need to be knocked out with a punch and a hammer. To simplify the task, you can remove the arm with a stretch and crab. The latter is attached to the beam in the front of the car using three bolts with a 17 head. Now unscrew with a 17 wrench the two bolts that secure the ball joint. It is not necessary to remove the steering end and hub. After removing the suspension arm, you need to unscrew the nut that secures the brace. You can immediately arm yourself with a gas canister and warm up the threads. This will greatly facilitate disassembly, and the rubber bands will still change.

Step 3

Remove the worn out silent blocks from the lever. This is done with a hammer and a good chisel. A few hard blows and the silent block falls out. If this does not happen, then it is necessary to resort to the help of the same gas burner, which needs to burn out the rubber. After disassembly, carefully clean the eyelet with a wire brush, then wash it with gasoline or thinner. The new silent block is pressed in with a vice. To do this, install it in the eyelet. Then slowly, gently, squeeze the vise. Finally, you need to seat the silent block on a flat anvil. It will take a couple of precise hammer blows.

Step 4

Replace the bushings on the stretch in the same way. Knock out or burn out the old ones, strip the eyelet, and then use a vise to seat the new rubber bushes in place. After that, you need to put all the stretch marks and suspension arms in place. Install all connections using new bolts and nuts, since the latter are self-locking, they have a plastic insert for fixing on the threads. After repairs, lower the machine onto the wheels. Only under load can you finally tighten all the nuts with the required force. Use keys with good leverage.
