A mirror is an indispensable item in any home. We use it every day and more than once. In the morning, the mirror helps us to put ourselves in order, in the afternoon to correct our makeup or hair. The mirror is one of the most necessary and important attributes of the interior. But it is quite fragile, so its installation requires the utmost care.
It is necessary
special tape for mirrors, glue for mirrors "liquid nails", deep impregnation primer, sealant
Instructions
Step 1
There are several types of mirror mounting. One of them is to mount the mirror using a special mirror glue ("liquid nails") or mirror tape. Choosing a mirror. Choose mirrors with finished, rounded edges. This is so as not to injure your fingers during installation and further use.
Step 2
Surface preparation. To do this, clean out all existing irregularities and treat the wall with a deep impregnation primer. This will ensure the best adhesion of the wall to the adhesive. Remember that the surface must be flat (no wallpaper or paint). Before proceeding directly to the installation of the mirror, you should align the place of its installation (if the wall has concavities or convexities). The larger the mirror size, the higher the requirements for surface flatness.
Step 3
Mounting a mirror. To begin with, mark the wall with a level, and under the large mirrors, also prepare a support that prevents the mirror from slipping until the glue is completely dry (no earlier than 24 hours). Then, on the back of the mirror, glue thick double-sided tape (short strips of 10-15 centimeters at a distance of 60-70 centimeters from each other) and remove the protective part from it. The tape will hold the mirror while the glue sets. Then apply "liquid nails" around the edges and the entire back surface of the mirror. And immediately attach the mirror to the wall.
Step 4
Bonding a mirror to ceramic tiles. Apply a continuous layer of special glue around the entire perimeter of the mirror, stepping back at least 2 centimeters from the edge. The middle must also be coated with glue (in the form of an inclined lattice). Basically, installing a mirror on a wall is not much different from gluing it to a ceramic tile. The technology remains the same, only in this case, after the glue dries, you will need to cover the edges with a sealant.
