According to international standards, the oil in automatic transmissions must be completely changed every 50 thousand kilometers. Following this recommendation reduces fuel consumption and prolongs the gearbox's performance. In addition to timely replacement, it is also necessary to regularly check the oil level. All this can be done both with the help of professionals and independently.

Instructions

Step 1

Try replacing the oil partially. This is the simplest and most economical way to carry out the procedure. Unscrew the drain cap from the automatic transmission pan. Wait for the maximum amount of oil to drain. Fill the automatic transmission with the same amount of fluid as removed. Be sure to check the oil level with the dipstick. In this way, you will change about 1/3 of the total amount of liquid. This will mix the new oil with the old one. If you want to completely change the composition of the automatic transmission fluid, repeat this process 5 times every 200-300 km.

Step 2

There is a way to completely renew the oil in the automatic transmission yourself. Warm up the car by driving it 5-7 km. After that, drive onto the overpass and turn off the engine. Unscrew the sump plug and drain the oil. Now unscrew the pan itself, but be careful, there is still a lot of liquid in it and it may pour out on you. Pull out the filter. At the same time, some more oil will be removed from the automatic transmission.

Step 3

It is recommended to replace the filter and gasket with new ones. If you think they are in good condition, try extending their performance. Thoroughly rinse the filter with gasoline and blow through. The gasket and sump cover must be completely cleaned of deposits. Replace the filter, gasket and cover. Fill the automatic transmission with the same amount of fresh oil as drained. Disconnect the outlet tubes from the radiator. Now slide long tubes over the oil passages and lower them into a container suitable for draining. Start your car. Wait for oil to flow from the pipes. Look at the color of the liquid being drained. As soon as the mixture is the same color as fresh oil, the engine must be turned off. Remove the tubes and replace the oil drain hoses. Check the automatic transmission oil level.
