On most vehicles, the ATF level in the automatic transmission should be measured with the engine running and the RVD lever in the P position. On the dipstick, which measures the oil level in the automatic transmission, there are usually several marks. The top two marks (which are often the only ones) correspond to the standard oil level at operating temperature (about 90 ° C). Often this section of the stylus is marked with a serif and / or a “Hot” caption.

Instructions

Step 1

In order to measure the oil level in the automatic transmission, you need to take the following steps: warm up the gearbox, having driven 10-15 kilometers, then put the car on a flat horizontal surface without turning off the engine.

Step 2

Put on your gloves, have a dry rag ready and open the hood. Closer to the bulkhead separating the engine compartment from the passenger compartment, you will see a dipstick loop, similar to the engine oil dipstick loop. As a rule, it is painted in a bright color.

Step 3

Pull the loop and remove the dipstick from the gearbox. Wipe the dipstick with a cloth and insert it back until it stops. Pull out the dipstick again. The lowest dry place will indicate the oil level in the automatic transmission.

Step 4

Often there are also marks on the dipstick to measure the cold oil level. They are designed to approximate the level when changing the oil. But the final level should still be checked with hot oil. There are also marks on the position of the automatic transmission to check the oil level and marks on the type of oil. If the oil level is correct, put the dipstick back in and close the hood.
