Many modern automatic transmissions do not require an oil change, since it is filled in them for the entire service life of the gearbox. Owners of old-style automatic transmissions must change the oil at the intervals prescribed by the manufacturer. It should be remembered that this procedure is not as simple as it seems at first glance. Therefore, if doubts arise in their abilities, it is best to entrust the work to specialists.
Necessary
- - set of tools;
- - bucket;
- - rags;
- - filter pan gasket;
- - sealant.
Instructions
Step 1
There are two ways to change the oil: partial and full flow. If the first option can be done by hand, then only specialists can make a full-flow replacement, since it implies a complete oil change from all components and assemblies of the automatic transmission.
Step 2
During a partial change, the oil is drained through a special drain plug in the sump. If it is absent, you will have to completely remove the gearbox pan.
Step 3
Raise the car on a lift and unscrew the drain plug of the pallet or remove it completely. Pour the old part of the oil into a pre-prepared trough. Determine the exact amount of the drained oil to fill in exactly the same amount of new oil. If determination by eye is not possible, then the method of setting the oil level using a dipstick can be used. At the end of the drain, the sump is cleaned of oil deposits and installed in its place.
Step 4
New fluid is poured through the transmission dipstick hole. This should be done in small portions. If you have special equipment, you can replace it through the probe channel.
Step 5
It is very important to correctly set the technical oil level in the gearbox. It should be remembered that measurements should be carried out first for a cold automatic transmission, and only then for a hot one. After the oil is filled, you will need to check its level. The need to make adjustments can be decided after the first test drive and warming up the box.
