The first car with cruise control appeared in 1958. The Chrysler Imperial's cruise control mechanism was flawed. Today, a modern speed control unit has become an indispensable assistant for a driver who sets off on a long journey. Speed control systems are different, but they have a common idea - to adjust the movement of the car in such a way as to maintain the speed indicated by the driver, while ensuring safety on the road.

Necessary

  • - cruise control (new or used);
  • - Torx bits with T15 and T30 heads.

Instructions

Step 1

Prepare all the tools you need to get started. Check if the vehicle is de-energized. If in doubt, it is best to take a look at the battery and disconnect the negative terminal. This must be done in order to protect yourself from the deployment of an emergency airbag in the Volga Cyber cabin. Otherwise, restoring this security node will cost you a pretty penny.

Step 2

Pay attention to the numbers that can be distinguished on each part used to set the cruise control. These numbers are extremely important, since, unfortunately, the device on this model can only be assembled from parts with specific numbers, which are indicated in the assembly instructions. Others, even if they are similar in appearance, will turn out to be useless. An attempt to adapt them in some way and still install cruise control will lead to a breakdown of the entire system.

Step 3

Take Torx with T15 and T30 heads. Remove the cover from the emergency airbag. After that, unscrew the fasteners from the back of the handlebar. At this point, the work can get stuck, since the screws are not visible, they are strongly recessed into the case. We'll have to act almost blindly.

Step 4

Carefully, trying not to act roughly, disconnect sufficiently flimsy connectors located on the airbag. Now you can pull it out and put it in the back seat of the car.

Step 5

Connect the cruise control buttons to the dedicated internal connectors. These connectors are usually marked green, so it is nearly impossible to miss them. After connecting, reassemble the steering wheel in the reverse order, remembering to reinstall the airbag.

Step 6

Open the hood of the car. A servo must be installed for the device to work. Not far from the right shock absorber cup there are plugs that need to be removed and replaced with plastic inserts. If the inserts will not fit into the holes, it is permissible to process them with light hammer blows.

Step 7

Install a small plate to secure the servo and prevent it from falling into the engine compartment. Connect the drive to the standard connector originally present in the machine wiring. You can find this connector on the main wires of the so-called "braid", where it is tied with tape.

Step 8

Route the servo to the gas pedal. Pay attention to the fact that to connect the actuator to the throttle valve, you must first remove the standard cable.

Step 9

To complete the cruise control equipment installation procedure, pipe the servo and vacuum brakes using a special fitting. Then connect the negative terminal of the battery.

Step 10

Start your car and turn on cruise control. A message should appear on the dashboard indicating that the device is connected and operating normally.
