In 2010, Russia adopted an order from the Ministry of Internal Affairs on a new procedure for registering cars, in which there is one important point - the issue of legalizing problem cars.
Instructions
Step 1
Sometimes a situation arises when you, a law-abiding citizen, in the process of registering a purchased car, find out that the vehicle's passport (PTS) is invalid, or some other flaws are registered for the former owners of the car. The sellers of the car were gone. There is a way out of such an unpleasant situation.
First, find out if the customs duties have been paid in full, and also find out everything you can about the previous owners of your car.
Step 2
Make inquiries about whether your car was previously registered and why strange details of its biography suddenly surfaced just now. The traffic police inspector must take into account the limitation period of the previous registration of the vehicle. If five years have passed since the previous registration, and unpleasant facts have become known only now, then the registration cannot be canceled after the expiration of the limitation period. In this case, you legally receive a vehicle passport in your name.
Step 3
Contact the police with a statement that you have found a vehicle without an owner. Write a statement asking you to find its owner. If one is not announced within a year, you will be given a certificate that the car is ownerless. Then you have the right to write a statement asking to legalize you as the owner of the vehicle (TC). With this certificate, you contact the traffic police with a request to restore the PTS in your name.
Step 4
Sometimes ignorant people recommend this method of legalizing a car - find a vehicle of the same brand as yours, but after an accident in which the vehicle is recognized as unsuitable for use. The documents for this car should not be in doubt. Buy them and scrap metal from the owner. Then the frame with the body number is digested from the wrecked car to yours. This method is a violation of the law of the Russian Federation. Doing so is strongly discouraged.
