With the onset of summer, the cycling season begins. Many people use a bicycle to get around the city. In this case, you need to be aware of the special rules for driving on busy streets.
Instructions
Step 1
Study the main provisions related to the admission to the operation of vehicles in the decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 1090 of October 23, 1993. Please note that in accordance with the traffic rules, it is allowed to ride a bicycle on the roadway only from the age of 14.
Step 2
Observe the specifications for cycling. Make sure that it has a working steering wheel, brake and horn, it is equipped with a white light and reflector in the front, and a red light or reflector in the back.
Step 3
Remember that the movement of bicycles must be carried out on the cycle path, and if there is no one - in one row, on the right side of the carriageway. Driving on the side of the road is also allowed, provided it does not interfere with pedestrians. While driving along the carriageway, the columns of cyclists should be divided into groups, each of 10 cyclists. To facilitate overtaking, the distance between them should be about 100 m.
Step 4
Use special gestures to indicate a maneuver. Raise either hand if you want to stop. When turning or changing lanes to the right, extend your right arm or your left arm bent at the elbow. In case of turning or changing lanes to the left, use an outstretched left hand or a right hand bent at the elbow. If the movement is carried out by a group of cyclists, then the left or right hand lowered down can be used to indicate the presence of holes or obstacles in the path.
Step 5
Avoid riding a bicycle while intoxicated, after taking medications that impair attention and response, or when tired or sick. In addition, crossing of organized columns (cars or pedestrians) and movement among them is prohibited. Avoid using your phone while driving. Only specially equipped technical devices are allowed to allow negotiations with free hands.
