Each car must have serviceable side lights so that the driver driving behind can clearly see the dimensions of the car in the dark. If the size on your Mazda has burned out, then it needs to be urgently replaced. This is not a very difficult procedure.
Necessary
- - cotton gloves;
- - spanners;
- - screwdrivers;
- - a new light bulb;
- - plastic caps;
- - alcohol.
Instructions
Step 1
De-energize the vehicle. To do this, open the hood and remove the minus terminal from the battery. Never try to replace bulbs with the ignition on or the battery terminal is not disconnected. This can lead to serious damage.
Step 2
Wash the rear of the vehicle to prevent road dirt from entering the interior grooves when changing dimensions. Open the trunk to access the rear. Detach the trim carefully. It is usually attached to plastic caps that break easily. Therefore, you should also stock up on some stock of such plastic parts. They cost very little.
Step 3
Find the wires going to the back of the box. Disconnect all wire connectors carefully. Now find the self-tapping screws that secure the gauge body to the body. Unscrew them, remembering the location of each. Now the dimensions are held only by plastic clips. Pull the housing out gently with a little force.
Step 4
Locate the plastic plug on the back of the size case. Unscrew the bolt and remove it. Under it, you will see the terminals that hold the bulbs. Gently pull this terminal down and to the side. The light bulb can now be removed from the socket.
Step 5
Install the new bulb in place of the old one. Never touch the glass of the new light bulb with your bare hands! Due to the grease remaining on the surface, the light bulb may burn out the first time it is turned on.
Step 6
If you do touch the light bulb, then wipe it thoroughly with a cloth moistened with alcohol before installing it in the socket. Next, you need to assemble the side lights in the reverse order and reinstall.
Step 7
Contact the service center if you are unable to replace the dimensions yourself. It is also worth visiting a dealership if your vehicle is under warranty.
