The time when you need to change the oil in an automatic transmission depends on the type of automatic transmission, on the operating conditions of the car. Under normal conditions, replacement should be done every 70 thousand kilometers (or after 2 years). In conditions that differ from normal (for example, hot or cold climates, operating the machine with a full load), the oil changes after 25 thousand kilometers (or after 1 year). So, the oil in the automatic box can be changed in the following ways.
Instructions
Step 1
This method has found the most widespread use. The oil can be drained either by removing the sump or through the drain plug. Fill in oil through the dipstick hole. However, this method has a drawback: only half of the volume is drained, and it is necessary to repeat the draining procedure several times.
Step 2
This method will require special equipment, so this method is widely used at oil change stations. The oil is pumped out by the pump through a thin hose that is pushed through the oil dipstick. However, the hose does not reach the very bottom of the sump, so the procedure has to be repeated several times to suck out all the oil. This method is convenient in that it does not require disassembly or a pit.
Step 3
And the method used by specialists:
- The hose from the machine to the radiator is removed, and in its place we connect a similar, but longer one, the other end of which is inserted into an empty container. Then we start the engine, and the oil itself drains. After draining, the engine must be turned off.
- About 4 liters of cheap oil for flushing is poured through the dipstick. We start the engine and drain this oil. Then everything is screwed up and high-quality oil is poured. The engine must be started after filling the first 3 liters.
This method provides the most complete oil change and also flushes the torque converter.
Remember that a timely and high-quality oil change will extend the life of your automatic transmission and ensure a comfortable and safe ride.
