The automatic transmission oil level should be checked at least once a week. It only takes a couple of minutes to do this, however, this will help to avoid repairing the automatic transmission, because if you do not follow this, then due to leaks, the amount of oil decreases, which is unacceptable. With a long run and at a high ambient temperature, measurements should be taken about half an hour after stopping the engine operation, so that the oil in the gearbox cools down and the measurement result is more accurate.
Instructions
Step 1
The car with the engine running at idle speed is parked on a level surface and the brake pedal is depressed. Continuing to hold the pedal, switch gears in all positions so that the entire automatic transmission is filled with oil.
Step 2
The brake pedal remains depressed and the speed lever is shifted to the “park” position P, or to the neutral position N (on some car models). Then release the brake and remove the automatic transmission oil level dipstick, then remove all the preparation from it, wipe it dry and insert it back into the filler neck.
Step 3
Then remove the dipstick and check that the oil level is in the middle of the ADD and FULL marks. If the oil level does not reach the lower mark, then the oil should be added and the above steps should be repeated. Finally, check the level again. When adding oil, avoid overfilling the system, as excess oil will cause foaming and will escape through the breather.
Step 4
After bringing the oil level to normal and making sure of this on the device, insert the dipstick back into the filler neck. Make sure that it fits into its place tightly and all the way so that water, dirt and other unnecessary substances do not get inside the automatic box.
