For reliable operation of the Buran snowmobile engine in difficult operating conditions, it is necessary to correctly adjust the ignition system. The most important parameter to consider when adjusting is the ignition timing. As a rule, even a factory adjustment needs subsequent thorough debugging and adjustment.

- - metal strip.
Instructions
Step 1
Draw a graduated scale. Draw a circle on a piece of paper with a diameter equal to the size of the fixed part of the variator mounted on the snowmobile. The center of the circle should be the middle of the end of the engine crankshaft.
Step 2
Using a protractor, mark the degrees from 0 to 30 on the circle, counting from the position corresponding to twelve o'clock on the dial and moving clockwise. Transfer the finished template to a strip of metal and attach it to the engine cover. Please note that the motor must be completely cooled beforehand.
Step 3
Set the left engine piston at top dead center. To do this, first unscrew the spark plugs. Then insert a special indicator into the spark plug well of the cylinder (a vernier caliper or screwdriver will do).
Step 4
Scroll the variator by hand in the direction of rotation of the engine shaft, while simultaneously watching the movement of the indicator in the spark plug well. At top dead center, the device will stop for a moment and start moving in the opposite direction.
Step 5
After making sure that top dead center is reached, mark on the variator opposite zero degrees of the scale you attached to the engine cover.
Step 6
Connect a stroboscope so that the signal is taken from the high voltage wire of the indicated cylinder. Replace the spark plugs and start the engine.
Step 7
Aim the strobe lamp at the graduated dial and bring the engine rpm to maximum. The strobe lamp should flash when a spark occurs in the cylinder, indicating which scale mark coincides with the variator mark. This will indicate the existing ignition timing.
Step 8
To adjust the ignition timing, stop the engine, loosen the screws securing the base of the magdino and turn it to the required value. Then repeat the angle check using a stroboscope. Turning the base of the magdino clockwise will decrease the ignition timing, and counterclockwise will increase it. The displacement of the base of the magdino by 0.9 mm is equal to the change in the ignition timing by 1 degree.
